Isaac Bruce hosted kids from College Bound at Rams Park
Apr. 14, 2007

On Saturday, April 14, Isaac Bruce hosted kids from College Bound at Rams Park. College Bound is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping promising high school students gain the academic preparation, life skills, social supports and mentoring that empower them to enter and succeed in four-year colleges. Bruce spoke to the kids about the importance of a healthy lifestyle as they enter college. He also gave them a tour of Rams Park.

College Bound students are part of a community that focuses relentlessly on academics, accountability, engaging and serving the world around them. Through our nationally recognized program they participate in:

  • Weekly tutoring with emphasis on math and science on a university campus (and in their high schools).
  • Workshops on note-taking, writing, organization and communication.
  • Summer scholarship programs at universities nationwide.
  • Required community service that empowers students to give back.
  • Programs in character building, personal finance, cultural literacy and civic leadership.
  • Meetings with college admission representatives and field trips to colleges.
  • Personalized ACT preparation taught by Kaplan Test Prep professionals
  • One-on-one mentoring, college application, FAFSA and scholarship guidance
  • Paid, for-credit and volunteer internships in government and local businesses

Bruce has also partnered with College Bound by writing the foreword to an anthology, "Voices In Ink", that the group will be releasing this June. For more information on College Bound, visit collegeboundstl.org.
